Anxiety Therapy

Racing thoughts: A mind that never stops spinning…

Literally… never.

Sometimes it’s “just” thoughts. Other times, it’s physical sensations, too: Your heart

beats really fast, your breathing gets shallow, you get lightheaded and feel you want to jump out of your skin.

Is your mind always attacking with a barrage of “should haves” and “what ifs?” Do you imagine all the worst-case outcomes for every situation? Do you feel like you are being held hostage by uncomfortable and troubling thoughts?

You probably worry that other people may find something you did or said awkward or annoying.

Do you relentlessly criticize your efforts, leaving you feeling like nothing you do is ever enough? Are you worried about getting it right? Do you fear that you will fail? Do you question everything you do, say, or feel?

As if that’s not bad enough…There’s insomnia and sleep disturbances. Panic attacks. Social anxiety. Impending sense of dread.

Physical symptoms, such as shortness of breath, and sweaty palms, get you down when you feel very anxious or nervous about something. It is exhausting, but you can’t seem to get off the merry-go-round.

Anxiety Is Our Body’s Way Of Saying, “There’s Too Much Stress!”

Living with anxiety is the reality for most of the population. You’re not alone. The vast majority of the clients we support are navigating some form of anxiety. It is at the heart of much of the work we do here. It’s a modern epidemic – most people have it, just differing in degree.

When we feel anxious, our bodies go on alert, prompting the brain to prepare itself for fight or flight mode. It’s the sense of fear and apprehension that is meant to heighten our sense of awareness so we are prepared for potential threats.

But when the feeling of constantly “being on alert” becomes background noise that doesn’t go away, that’s when anxiety counseling becomes essential.

Working with an anxiety therapist can help you channel your stress into something more useful—a quiet background hum rather than a constant, loud alarm. This way, anxiety becomes less of a hindrance and more of a guide, helping you navigate modern life’s challenges.

Anxiety Therapy Is About Shifting Your Thoughts—One Step at a Time

At Clear Mind Therapy, we create a space where you can slow down, feel more at ease, and start to gently work through what’s been weighing on you. Anxiety can feel loud and all-consuming, but with the right support, it becomes something you can understand—and learn how to move through.

In our work together, we’ll ask thoughtful questions, get curious about what’s really going on beneath the surface, and help you start shifting the patterns that keep you stuck.

Along the way, you’ll learn simple, practical ways to respond when anxiety shows up, like:

  • Pause and breathe: Give yourself a moment instead of reacting right away.
  • Get curious: What’s actually bothering you? What’s underneath the stress?
  • Focus on what’s in your control: Gently challenge thoughts that aren’t helping you. You might ask yourself, “Is this thought actually useful right now?”
  • Find ways to reset: Whether it’s going for a walk, listening to music, or getting out of your head for a bit—small shifts can make a big difference.

We’ll also help you learn how to interrupt anxious thought loops—so instead of feeling taken over by them, you can step back, question them, and regain a sense of control.

Over time, your inner dialogue can start to shift. Instead of going straight to the worst-case scenario, you might find yourself thinking:

What if this actually works out? What if there’s something here I can learn from? I’ve felt this before—I know it passes. Maybe this doesn’t have to mean something is wrong.

It’s not about forcing positive thinking—it’s about creating a more balanced, steady way of responding to yourself and your life.

And little by little, that changes how you feel.

Our Approach To Anxiety

At Clear Mind Therapy, we know anxiety doesn’t always look the way people expect it to. You might be doing well on the outside—showing up, achieving, holding it all together—but inside, it can feel overwhelming, exhausting, or just… a lot.

That’s where we come in.

We take the time to really understand you—your life, your patterns, and what anxiety feels like in your day-to-day. From there, we tailor therapy in a way that actually fits you, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Some clients like to understand the “why” behind what they’re feeling, while others just want tools that help them get through the week. We can meet you in both places. Our therapists draw from approaches like Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and simple, effective ways to calm your nervous system—but we keep it grounded and practical.

We’ll help you untangle what’s driving your anxiety beneath the surface, while also giving you real strategies you can use right away. Over time, things start to feel clearer, more manageable, and a little less heavy. You don’t have to keep pushing through it on your own.

You May Still Have Questions or Concerns About Anxiety Therapy…

Will anxiety treatment actually work?

If you come to sessions and are willing to do the work, including homework, then you can definitely feel better. We are confident that we can help you achieve your goals, and reduce your anxiety symptoms.

Will I need to take medication to start feeling better?

Many people hesitate to take medication for anxiety, and that’s understandable. Therefore, we aim to address anxiety symptoms through talk therapy first before evaluating whether or not a client might be a good candidate for medication. If you’re interested, we’ll collaborate with a prescribing professional to find the right type and dosage and monitor your progress.

How long does it take to see improvement?

We recognize that if you’ve been dealing with anxiety for a while, you’re likely eager for quick relief. Many clients report feeling some improvement after the first session, and significant changes often occur within eight to ten weeks of regular therapy. This timeframe can provide a foundation for lasting change.
